Leisel Jones is now the outright favourite with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au to be the Australian team flag bearer at the London Olympics, firming from $5.50 into $2.50.
Despite firming from $26, it seems as though it’s not a done deal for Jones, with cyclist Anna Meares firming from $9.00 into $4.00 overnight.
Punters continued to steer clear of Natalie Cook, who has drifted from being the $2.00 favourite out to $3.00, while Drew Ginn has eased from $2.60 to $3.00 after declaring he’s not interested in the honour.
“There’s been a hive of activity on the market in the last three days, and while we aren’t sure who will be awarded the honour, the betting suggests it’s likely to be a female,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
After firming from $13 into $9.00 yesterday, Lauren Jackson has eased back out to $13, while Stuart O’Grady ($13), Andrew Hoy ($21), Cadel Evans ($26) and Jamie Dwyer ($26) have all drifted in betting.
