Punter Puts $150,000 On Geelong/Sydney AFL Double

A punter stands to collect $192,750 from Sportingbet if the Geelong Cats and Sydney Swans each win their respective AFL Semi Finals this weekend.

The punter wagered $75,000 on Geelong at odds of $1.25 to beat Port Adelaide and also put $75,000 on Sydney at odds of $1.32 to beat Carlton.

“The money for Geelong and Sydney to win this weekend has been relentless,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“Both teams have attracted more than 80% of the money wagered in each game,” Brown said.

Meanwhile, Hawthorn continues to be the best backed team to win the Grand Final, firming from $2.90 into $2.25 at Sportingbet.

Fremantle is a $3.75 second favourite ahead of Geelong at $4.50 and Sydney at $7.50.

Punters Bank On More Finals Upsets In The AFL

With three out of four outsiders getting up in week one of the finals, punters seem certain that the trend will continue this weekend, with more bets placed on Port Adelaide to beat Geelong and Carlton to defeat Sydney with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia.

The Power remain $4.50 outsiders against Geelong ($1.22), while the Blues are $3.20 versus Sydney ($1.37).

“Last weekend proved that anything can happen in finals football and punters are looking to cash in again on the outsiders. In particular, there has been almost double the amount of bets on Carlton compared to Sydney,” said Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson.

Hawthorn remain flag favourites after firming from $2.40 to $2.35, with Fremantle drifting from $3.70 to $3.75.

In the second week of the finals sportsbet.com.au will be refunding all losing first goal scorer bets if the first score of the match is a point!

$55,000 Bet On Atlantic Jewel To Win Stocks Stakes

The big bets are flowing in for Australia’s superstar mare Atlantic Jewel.

A Sportingbet Australia punter stands to collect $60,500 after placing $55,000 on the Mark Kavanagh trained five-year-old at odds of $1.10 to win tomorrow’s Top Cut Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley.

“We’re anticipating plenty more five-figure and six-figure wagers for her before she jumps,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“Punters are looking at it as an easy way to make a 10 per cent return on their money,” Brown said.

Platelet has attracted at $20,000 wager at odds of $4.50 at Sportingbet to win Race 5 on the program, the Mitty’s Mcewen Stakes.

A punter has also had $6,500 at $3.30 on Fiorente to win Race 6, the Dato’ Tan Chin Nam Stakes.

No Concerns For Atlantic Jewel Second Up In Stocks Stakes

Rising superstar Atlantic Jewel will make a mockery of the “second-up’’ hoodoo according to online bookmaker Sportsbet.

Following her devastating first-up win, the unbeaten mare is $1.07 favourite for Saturday’s Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley. Despite the prohibitive odds, Atlantic Jewel has been very well backed and dominates the market with Oasis Bloom ($15) the next in betting.

“Trainer Mark Kavanagh spoke about it and the second-up run is regularly hauled out as an excuse if a horse is beaten. But there will be no excuses for Atlantic Jewel, she would literally have to fall over to lose on Saturday,’’ Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson said.

Punters who shy from the short odds can take advantage of a market without Atlantic Jewel, where Oasis Bloom is favourite at $2.80 favourite. There is also a market on how far Atlantic Jewel will win by, with the favoured way for her to win by 2.0-3.9 lengths at $2.60.

Fast ‘N’ Rocking Finds Support In Golden Rose

The David Hayes trained Fast ‘N’ Rocking could start favourite in Saturday’s Group 1 Golden Rose at Rosehill Gardens after being heavily backed at Sportingbet.

Fast ‘N’ Rocking has been supported from $5.50 into $5 at Sportingbet after a number of significant wagers, including one of $20,000 at $5.50.

“He’s got plenty of friends but on the flipside, we are struggling to write a bet for Prince Harada,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“If the money continues to come in like it has been for Fast ‘N’ Rocking then he’ll start favourite,” Brown said.

Prince Harada has drifted from $4 out to $4.60 at Sportingbet since Tuesday’s barrier draw. Zoustar has also eased, from $9.50 to $11.

Sidestep has firmed from $14 into $12 and Aussies Love Sport is $26 into $19.

Scott Burns & Peter Sumich Top The Likely Eagles Coach Contenders

BURNS FAV IN WEST COAST AGAIN, MONEY COMES FOR LEPPITSCH IN BRISBANE
Scott Burns and Peter Sumich seem locked in a Rockey Balboa v Apollo Creed like battle, with Burns once again reclaiming favouritism to coach West Coast according to the betting with online bookmaker Sportsbet.

Burns has firmed from $3.75 to be the $3.00 favourite, while Sumich is out from $2.50 to $3.25.

Sumich’s drifting comes despite him still being the best backed option by punters, with some money also coming for Leigh Tudor who is in from $12 to $7.50.

“Punters are still keen on Sumich, but the word is Burns is really highly regarded in the west. We can’t really split these two and they are the only ones punters want,” said Sportsbet Australia’s Shaun Anderson.

Leigh Tudor is not only a front runner for West Coast – he is also the outright $2.75 favourite to get the Brisbane gig. There has also been some support for Adam Simpson who has firmed from $7.50 to $5.00 while Justin Leppitsch has been a big mover in from $21 to $5.00.
“Tudor is still the best backed, but there has be some recent money for Justin Leppitsch while punters have gone off  the idea of John Worsfold moving to Brisbane as he is out from$5.50 to $21.”

Sidestep To Firms Golden Rose Stakes

Luckless three-year-old Sidestep has been the big mover in Golden Rose markets with online bookmaker Sportsbet.

Punters have forgiven Sidestep’s last start failure and the colt has been well supported, firming from $13 into $10 for the Rosehill Group 1. Victorian three-year-old Prince Harada has drifted from $4.40 to $5.00 but continues to top the market, just ahead of Fast ‘N’ Rocking, the second pick on $5.50.

Cluster remains steady at $8.00, while last start winner Aussies Love Sport has been wall backed and has firmed from $26 into $17.

“It really was a forget run for Sidestep last start. He copped severe interference, which basically knocked him out of the race. There has been good money to say he can turn it around and there has also been solid support for Prince Harada and Fast ‘N’ Rocking in a very open betting race,” Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes said.

Sportsbet Australia will refund punters their bet on the Golden Rose if their selection runs second in the race.

Atlantic Jewel ($1.07) is prohibitive odds in the Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley, but punters can bet on her winning margin or with her out of the field. Currenlty, a 2.0 to 3.9 length win is the $2.60 favourite.

Neil Henry & Jason Taylor Favourites For Eels Coaching Job

Current Cowboys coach Neil Henry is the $1.80 favourite with online bookmaker Sportsbet to take over from the departing Ricky Stuart at the Eels next season.

Henry heads the betting to get the most poisoned of chalices in the NRL from Jason Taylor ($4.00) with the pair having attracted similar punter support to get the job.

Trent Barrett ($9.00), Daniel Anderson ($12) and Tim Sheens ($12) round out the top five in the market. Former Eels coach Brian Smith has been opened at $15, with current Eels assistants Dean Pay and Matt Parish both $51 outsiders.

NSW coach Laurie Daley has attracted a $1 bet at odds of $67, David Furner has had $2 bet on him at the same odds, while Stephen Kearney hasn’t attracted a bet yet and remains a $101 shot.

“Aside from the $1 and $2 bets on the candidates at massive odds, the punters have it as a two-horse race between Neil Henry and Jason Taylor, with Henry just in front,” Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes said.

With Stuart heading to the Nation’s Capital, sportsbet.com.au has opened a market on total 2014 season wins for the Raiders, setting the line at 10.5. Under 10.5 wins is the $1.80 favourite.

Richmond Well Backed To Get On Top Of Blues In First Final

The Tigers have finally made the Finals, but punters are tipping their celebrations will be short lived, with more money coming for the Blues to beat Richmond with online bookmaker Sportsbet.

Despite being $2.65 outsiders, punters have come for the Blues and have been well backed, with little interest on the Tigers at $1.50.

Betting trends in all Finals matches:

Hawthorn v Sydney
Despite missing Buddy Franklin, the Hawks have so far been the best backed team in the first week of the Finals. There has been little interest in the Swans and they have drifted from $2.58 to $2.60.

Geelong v Fremantle
The fact the game will be played in Geelong and not Etihad Stadium has seen the odds change significantly (Cats would have been $1.42 if it was played at Etihad instead of $1.35 in Geelong. Fremantle would have been $2.85 if it was played at Etihad instead of $3.25 in Geelong). Regardless, punters cant split these two teams, with money virtually even.

Collingwood v Port Adelaide
Punters have declared Collingwood as the safest bet of the week. There has been five times the money on the Pies, with virtually no interest in Port Adelaide.

Richmond v Carlton
Punters are tipping an upset as there has been more money bet on the Blues.

“It’s taken the Tigers 12 years to make the finals, but punters are tipping their September action will be short lived and we keep taking money on Carlton, with their price of $2.65 appealing given they beat the Tigers only a few weeks ago,” said Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson.

In other Finals betting, Jarryd Roughead is expected to continue his goalkicking dominance, priced at $3.75 to kick the most goals in the Finals ahead of Kurt Tippett ($5.00), Tom Hawkins ($7.00) and Travis Cloke ($8.00).
