Prince Harada New Golden Rose Favourite

Prince Harada has shot to the top of betting  for the Group 1 million dollar Golden Rose after connections decided to pay the $50,000 late entry fee on Monday.

The Tony Vasil trained colt has been installed a clear $3.60 favourite at Centrebet ahead of Fast ‘N’ Rocking who beat him home on Saturday.

“Victorian colts dominate the Golden Rose market with good money coming for Fast ‘N’ Rocking before Prince Harada was declared a runner.” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

“It’s been one-way traffic since he was declared a runner though, Prince Harada looked unlucky on Saturday and the punters expect him to turn the tables on Fast ‘N’ Rocking next time they meet ”

Fast ‘N’ Rocking was $9 into $4.40 for the Golden Rose after his win on the weekend but is now back out to $5.

“If Prince Harada adapts to the Sydney way of racing he is definitely the one to beat, he has been heavily backed to win the Caulfield Guineas ($4.40 favourite) and has also been specked in the Cox Plate firming from $35 into $21 since Saturday,” Felgate said.

The Chris Waller trained Zoustar is the best local hope at $7 after an encouraging return on Saturday.

Sam Burgess To Sit SBW on His Arse? What Are The Odds?

Sam Burgess sat Sonny Bill Williams on his backside in round one and the pair will face-off in Friday night’s blockbuster and to celebrate online bookmaker Sportsbet has opened a raft of markets pitting the two against each other.
And it’s the Bunnies’ enforcer who looks to have SBW covered, favourite to make more tackles, run the most metres, score the most tries and score the first try between the pair.
It’s an even money bet for who’ll tally the most super coach points. Souths remain $1.60 favourites for the clash, with the Roosters at $2.30.
“He tried to get Beau Ryan, a little winger a few weeks ago. Will Sonny run at Sam Burgess with the same zest? He’ll be reminded about round one all week so it’s a safe bet to say he will,” sportbets Ben Hawes said.

Hawks And Cats Dominate Norm Smith Medal Betting

Hawthorn and Geelong superstars dominate betting for the 2013 Norm Smith Medal with most punters expecting a Hawks and Cats Grand Final.

The last time they played off in the 2008 Grand Final Luke Hodge won the medal and he is a $12 chance to do it again this year at Centrebet.

Teammate Sam Mitchell, Geelong’s Joel Selwood and Steve Johnson are equal favourites with Hodge at $12.

“The first seven players in betting are from Hawthorn or Geelong which isn’t surprising when you look at the names. A Hawthorn Geelong Grand Final is also a $3 favourite with the punters.” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

Jimmy Bartel at $15 is next in the market followed by Hawks’ goalkickers Buddy Franklin and Jarryd Roughead at $17.

Fremantle’s Nathan Fyfe and Swans’ stars Kieran Jack, Josh Kennedy and Dan Hannebery are at $21 with last year’s Norm Smith Meddalist Ryan O’Keef value at $26.

Scott Pendlebury is the best of the Pies’ players at $31 with Trent Cotchin an $81 chance for Tiger fans who dare to dream.

Leigh Tudor Surprise Favourite To Score Brisbane Lions Coach Role

Leigh Tudor has emerged as the dark horse to be the next Brisbane Lions coach, now outright favourite at $4.00 with online bookmaker Sportsbet to get the gig.
After opening as a $41 outsider, 90% of all money bet on the market since Friday 30th August has been on Tudor, seeing his odds firming into $16, then $9.00, then $7.50 and now $4.00.

Once as short as $2.00 to get the job, Paul Roos is now out to a massive $1001 since announcing he is 50/50 to take the Melbourne job.

After at one stage being the favourite for both the Melbourne and Brisbane jobs, Rodney Eade is now friendless with punters and is out from $8.00 to $21 to coach Brisbane.

Following Tudor, Scott Burns, Mark Harvey, Mark Williams and John Worsfold are next in the market all at $10.
“We gave Tudor no hope early on but the punters are telling us we have it wrong and we have hardly seen money for anyone else other than him since the weekend,” said Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson.

Jaegar O’Meara Long Odds On To Win NAB Rising Star

Jaegar O’Meara had better start working on his acceptance speech, priced at Black Caviar like odds of $1.04 with an online bookmaker  before the market was closed to win the NAB Rising Star Award.
Prior to the market closing, there was more than double the money for O’Meara compared to every other player in the market.

While some punters were smart enough to get on early when he was priced at $11, big bets at short odds continued to roll in for him.

“We took a few $5,000 bets at $1.05 just before it closed. The returns aren’t big but it looks like easy money given it would be one of the biggest upsets ever if he doesn’t win it,” said Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson.

Centrebet Refund All Bets On Essendon

Centrebet punters who backed Essendon have no need to sweat as they won’t lose a cent after the AFL announced the club would be banned from this year’s finals series.

Centrebet will pay out and refund all bets placed on the Bombers in finals markets despite the club being kicked out of the finals series.

“The punters who backed Essendon in good faith are innocent bystanders caught up in the scandal and don’t deserve to be punished, so they will not lose one cent,” Centrebet’s Michael Felgate said.

Essendon’s penalty will actually  provide a windfall for some punters as Centrebet will pay-out in full anyone who backed Essendon to make the top 8 and to miss the top 8 despite the AFL commission declaring  that Essendon will officially finish the season in 9th place.

Centrebet will also pay-out on the team that takes Essendon’s place in the finals. All bets on the team that would have finished 9th to make the top 8 and miss the top 8 will be paid in full providing another bonus for lucky Centrebet punters.

CENTREBET ESSENDON BETS TO BE PAID-OUT:

–          Essendon to make top 8

–          Essendon to miss top 8

–          Team that would have finished 9th paid-out on making top 8 and missing top 8

CENTREBET ESSENDON BETS REFUNDED:

–          To win premiership

–          To make Grand Final

–          All quinella bets involving Essendon

–          All Premiership doubles bets involving Essendon

Sportsbet Payout On All Essendon Final Bets

Online bookmaker Sportsbet has done the following after the announcement of sanctions handed down by the AFL in relation to Essendon not being able to compete in the 2013 AFL Premiership Finals Series.

Sportsbet has paid the following bets as winning bets:

  • Essendon to make the 2013 AFL Top 8
  • Essendon to miss the 2013 AFL Top 8

Sportsbet has refunded the following bet types (that Essendon still had a mathematical chance of achieving):

  • Essendon to win the 2013 AFL Premiership
  • Essendon to make the 2013 AFL Grand Final
  • Various Grand Final Quinellas including Essendon
  • Essendon to be the highest-placed Victorian team (including Finals)
  • Essendon to win the 2013 Wooden Spoon*

All bets eligible for refunds must have been placed with Sportsbet before 7.30pm, Tuesday, 13 August 2013 – when the initial charges against four Essendon officials was announced by the AFL.

“Punters who backed the Bombers shouldn’t suffer as a result of the sanctions,” said Sportsbet.com.au’s Haydn Lane.

“Sportsbet has paid all bets for Essendon to either make or miss the finals as winning bets, and has refunded a host of other Essendon futures bets.”

*Wooden Spoon bets are resulted on the least amount of wins, not on Premiership points. However, to avoid any possible confusion, Sportsbet has refunded all bets on the Bombers to win the Wooden Spoon.

Cowboys Home Says NRL Punters

Two weeks ago they’re paying a juicy $7.00 to make the finals but after a string of wins and punter backing, the Cowboys are into $1.55 with online bookmaker Sportsbet.com.au to make the top eight.
The Knights, currently sitting in seventh position, are into $1.25 to play finals footy, just ahead of the Cowboys. The Warriors, who are North Queensland’s biggest threat for the final spot in the eight, are paying $2.00.
The Raiders have ballooned out to $8.00 and with two tough games to finish the season, the Titans look gone and are out to $41.

“Punters who took the $7.00 about the Cowboys to make the finals a fortnight ago will be cheering. You never know what you’re going to get with the Warriors so the Cowboys are not home yet but punters who backed them would be starting to feel very relieved,” said Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes.
