Punters with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au continue to back Steve Hooker to win consecutive pole vault gold medals, with the Aussie now priced as a $10 chance.
Hooker was opened at $17 to win gold at the beginning of July, and on the back of patriotic punter support, now sits on the fourth line of betting.
“We’ve seen more bets for Hooker to win gold in the last four days than we did for the whole month of July,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
“He was installed at $17 to make it back-to-back Olympic titles, was quickly backed into $12, before punters really got behind him this week. Hooker’s now attracted 88 percent of bets wagered on the market.”
Frenchman Renaud Lavillenie heads the betting at $1.83, with Bjorn Otto ($7.00) and Malte Mohr ($8.50) next in the market.
