Punters Come For Solicit To Upset Kirramosa’s Oaks

Honest mare Solicit is the horse punters believe can challenge Kirramosa in tomorrow’s Oaks at Flemington.

Wakeful Stakes winner Kirramosa ($3.40) is clear favourite and best backed with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia, but Solicit ($9.00) is the second most popular with punters.

“There’s no doubt Kirramosa is the one punters want, she has been heavily supported. However, Solicit has been solid throughout betting and heads the rest as far as weight of money goes,’’  Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson said.

May’s Dream ($4.80) has been friendless in betting while Zanbagh ($4.50) has also been easy.

In good news for punters, sportsbet.com.au will refund bets on the race if your horse finishes second!

Chris Waller Party To Continue On Emirates Stakes Day

Champion trainer Chris Waller appears to have a mortgage on Saturday’s Emirates Stakes with Boban and Sacred Falls according to the market with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia.

Boban is a heavily backed favourite, firming from $4.60 into $3.80. Stablemate Sacred Falls ($7.00) is on the third line and Toydini ($6.50) splits the pair.

“The Waller camp is flying, he won Group 1’s with Red Tracer and Zoustar on Derby Day and he should finish the Flemington carnival with another. It’s been one way traffic for Boban, he’s the only horse punters want,’’ Sportsbet’s Haydn Lane said.

In Saturday’s Sprint Classic Buffing ($7.00) is currently playing second fiddle to favourite Lucky Nine ($4.00).

Buffering is great value after edging out Lucky Nine in the Manikato Stakes.

Cahill The Captain To Save The Socceroos

Ange Postecoglou will begin the new era for the Socceroos with a new captain according to online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia pricing Tim Cahill as the $3.00 favourite to be Captain at next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
Current skipper Lucas Neill still remains in the hunt to retain the title on $5.00, with Mile Jedinak taking the third line of betting on $6.00 and sees himself in with a shout after impressing as Crystal Palace’s on-field leader in the EPL.

Middlesbrough’s Rhys Williams ($6.50), Mark Bresciano ($7.00) and Victory’s Mark Milligan ($10.00) all round out the top half of the market.

Matt McKay was given the armband nearly a year ago for one occasion in the 9-0 thrashing of Guam but sees himself ranked as an outside chance on $17.

“Timmy would be a brilliant captain, he’s a natural leader and according to the odds he’s the pick right now for the armband,” Sportsbet’s Haydn Lane said.

“A contender from left-field however has not been totally ruled out and if Ange is to rejuvenate the squad, at 33, Cahill could get overlooked.”

Meanwhile, Sportsbet have priced the Socceroos at $2.00 to beat Costa Rica ($3.25) in Ange’s first match in charge.

Online Bookmaker Says Barrier Won’t Stop Kirramosa Winning Crown Oaks

WIDE BARRIER WILL NOT STOP KIRRAMOSA

Kiwi filly Kirramosa will start from outside barrier in Thursday’s Victoria Oaks but is still favourite with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia.

Kirramosa, who blew the opposition away in last Saturday’s Wakeful Stakes, has been well supported and heads the market on  $3.70. Sydney filly Zandbagh is next in betting at $4.20 with Caulfield Guineas runner-up May’s Dream ($4.60) also in demand.

“Barrier 10 won’t worry Kirramosa. She dropped out to last in the Wakeful and she’ll probably do the same here and wait for the last crack at them. If she finishes off like she did last Saturday they won’t beat her,’’ Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson said.

Kirramosa Will Start Crown Oaks Favourite After Wakeful Win

Yesterday’s flying run in the Wakeful Stakes has seen Kirramosa firm from $9.00 into $3.60 favouritism for the Oaks with online bookmaker Sportsbet.
Finishing second, May’s Dream has drifted from $3.20 to $5.00 while Zanbagh is second in the market at $4.50.

“It was an eye catching run by Kirramosa and it looked to have May’s Dream covered by a fair way. It now looks like the one to beat in the Oaks,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.

Polanksi Plunged To Win VRC Derby On TAB

Punters are confident that Polanski ($5.50) can make it three straight wins and claim the Victoria Derby (2500m) at Flemington tomorrow.

The Robbie Laing-trained colt has drawn the inside barrier and has firmed from $8.50 to $5.50 since Wednesday.

“He should get a dream run behind the leader and looks well suited stepping up to 2500m,” said TAB’s Matt Jenkins.

“Savvy Nature ($4.80) and Complacent ($5.50) are the main dangers, but have both drawn wide.”

Complacent has been $4 to $5.50 since coming up with barrier 16.

Savvy Nature (13) is holding favouritism, but has been $4.20 to $4.80 since the barrier draw.

Bets of note on Polanski:

$4,000 @ $6

$3,000 @ $7.50

$1,400 @ $6.50

  • Kelinni ($11 to $7), who won the Lexus Stakes last year, is the best back runner to win the race again. He is $81 in the Melbourne Cup.

Mark Williams New Favourite To Take The Reins As St Kilda Coach

Mark Williams may have missed out on the Melbourne coaching gig, but he appears in the box seat to land at St Kilda, priced as the $2.50 favourite with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia to be the Saints’ next coach after Scott Watters was sacked today.

So strong has the support been for Williams that punters jumped on him as soon as the market was opened, with his price firming from $3.00 to $2.50 within half an hour.

Scott Burns, John Worsfold, Michael Voss and club legend Robert Harvey are next in the market at $6.00.

“Harvey might be the sentimental favourite but the punters have come for Williams. He is the only one they want to be on and is the clear favourite at $2.50,” said Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson.

Budget Buy Polanski Tipped To Upset VRC Derby Field

Cranbourne colt Polanski has been heavily backed to win the Victoria Derby at Flemington tomorrow.

The bargain buy, who cost just $4000 as a yearling, is $6.00 and the best backed runner with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia. Favourite Savvy Nature has eased from $4.60 to $4.80 and Complacent has also blown out to $5.50.

“There’s been a massive go for Polanski and by all indications it could be a three-way battle for favouritism. While Savvy Nature and Complacent are the star runners, they have wide barriers to contend with and Polanski should get the gun run,’’ Sportsbet’s Shaun Anderson said.

Sportsbet.com.au will be paying out to 4 places in the Derby this weekend.

While the Derby betting battle continues Zoustar ($1.90) holds more money than every other runner put together in the Coolmore Stakes.

It’s a similar affair in the Mackinnon with favourite Jet Away ($3.00) solid favourite, but a sprinkling of support for Dear Demi ($10).

Queenslander Fire Up Fifi ($7.00) has had good support to beat the favourite Red Tracer ($2.45) in the Myer Classic. As far as weight of money goes there is little between the pair and Sharnee Rose ($9.00) also has admirers.

Tupac Amaru Finds Support To Win VRC Derby

Trainer Peter Snowden will have three Derby runners and money has started to filter in for his outsider Tupac Amaru.

Snowden will saddle second favourite Complacent ($5.50), San Diego ($7.50), but Tupac Amaru has firmed from $17 into $15 after online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia took several decent wagers overnight.

Savvy Nature remains firm $4.60 favourite for Saturday’s drawcard race at Flemington.

“Tupac Amaru has only won a Ballarat Maiden, but we did see a Maidener (Shamus Award) win last week’s Cox Plate. There is money to say Tupac Amaru can race well, but the major cash is for Complacent and Savvy Nature,’’ Shaun  Anderson said.

In the Mackinnon Stakes market Jet Away ($3.00) is best backed and firm favourite to cement his place in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.
