Punters with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia aren’t convinced Strawberry Boy can step-up to elite level in Sunday’s Rupert Clarke Stakes at Caulfield.
The lightly raced five-year-old is the $5.50 favourite in a wide betting race but the now Peter Moody trained runner has been friendless in betting with punters turning their attention to $15 hope Speediness, who was opened at $21.
Rebel Dane ($6.00) follows Strawberry Boy in the market and is the second best backed runner, with Solzhenitsyn ($6.50) the only other runner in single figures. Ferlax ($11) is the third best supported.
“The wraps are big for Strawberry Boy, who has been in the money nine of his ten starts and won six of them, but our punters aren’t keen on him here. Instead, they’ve launched into Craig Williams and Speediness at big odds,” Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes said.
Sportsbet Australia punters will get their bet on the Rupert Clarke Stakes refunded if their horse runs second in the race.
