Atlantic Jewel Losing Grip On Cox Plate Betting After Loss

It’s A Dundeel has firmed from $9 into $3.40 second favouritism  at Sportingbet for the Sportingbet Cox Plate after an impressive victory over Atlantic Jewel in today’s Underwood Stakes at Caulfield.

Atlantic Jewel’s odds of winning the Sportingbet Cox Plate drifted from $2.40 out to $3.20 following her first defeat in 10 career starts.

“We took a bet of $100,000 for Atlantic Jewel and another of $60,000 but she drifted from $1.45 out to $1.75 for the Underwood,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“It’s A Dundeel was heavily backed, from $11 into $7, and we wrote a stack of four-figure bets and mountain of smaller wagers,” Brown said.

“There seems very little between them and that’s now reflected in their odds for Australasia’s richest weight for age race,” Brown said.

Puissance De Lune has been relegated to third favouritism but firmed slightly from $7.50 into $6 for the Sportingbet Cox Plate.

Souths & Roosters Tipped To Play NRL Grand FInal 2013

South Sydney and the Roosters are the firm favourites with online bookmaker Sportsbet to win their respective preliminary finals next weekend and face-off in the 2013 NRL Grand Final.

The Rabbitohs have been opened at $1.48 for their clash with Manly, with the Sea Eagles $2.65 outsiders, while the Roosters are priced at $1.33 against the Newcastle Knights ($3.40).

And as the last team from the bottom four of the top eight still remaining, the Knights are still a chance of collecting the $100,000 bounty offered by Sportsbet Australia for a side outside the top four to win the this year’s premiership.

“It’s not a surprise at all that these two sides are favourites to win through to the Grand Final but as the Knights showed, anything can happen in the finals,” Sportsbet’s Ben Hawes said.

“The Knights are just two wins from being Premiers and winning a lazy $100,000 for a charity of their choice.”

In premiership winner betting, the Roosters are outright favourites at $2.50, ahead of the Bunnies ($2.75), Manly ($5.00) and Knights ($8.00).

$70,000 Worth Of Bets For Sam Mitchell To Win Brownlow Medal

Punters have come from everywhere to back Sam Mitchell for the Brownlow, with over $70,000 bet on him with online bookmaker Sportsbet since tipster Sean Brady declared him the winner on The Footy Show.
The unprecedented amount of bets have seen him firm from $15 before The Footy Show to $7.00 this morning to be third favourite.

As a result, Gary Ablett, who Sportsbet has already paid out over $270,000 early to be the winner, has drifted from $1.68 to $1.75, with Joel Selwood also out from $4.00 to $4.50.

“Last year they came for Mitchell late as well, but we have never seen anything like this to this level in such a short period of time,” said Sportsbet Australia’s Shaun Anderson.

“Since the Brady interview was aired, 90% of all Brownlow bets have been in Mitchell with almost more money bet on him during the last 12 hours compared to all the money that came for him throughout the year.”

Hawkspur Heads Caulfield Cup Betting

Queensland Derby winner Hawkspur has firmed significantly from $10 into outright $6 favouritism at Sportingbet for the 2013 Caulfield Cup.

The Chris Waller trained four-year-old has been the subject of large volume of bets to win the Caulfield Cup ahead of contesting Saturday’s Group 1 George Main Stakes at Randwick.

“Punters are clearly expecting a big run from Hawkspur in the George Main and wanted to get on him for the Caulfield Cup before he shortened,” Sportingbet spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“We took bets totalling $3,000 at the $10 for him to win the Caulfield Cup in the space of a few of hours and they’ve kept backing him down to his current quote,” Brown said.

Hawkspur is now the outright Caulfield Cup favourite at Sportingbet ahead of Super Cool at $10, Royal Descent at $12 and Fiorente at $15.

Brownlow Medal Betting – Money For Sam Mitchell

Punters are continuing to plunge on Sam Mitchell to win the 2013 Brownlow Medal.

The Hawthorn star’s odds have been slashed from $21 into $6.50 at Sportingbet since Wednesday after a massive volume of bets.

“We took more than 200 individual bets for Mitchell, compared to just 10 for Ablett, in a three hour period on Friday morning and there’s no sign of the bets stopping,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.

“Punters backed Mitchell to win more than $150,000 with us in the space of just 24 hours,” Brown said.

Mitchell is now a clear-cut third favourite in betting behind Gary Ablett at $1.75 and Joel Selwood at $5. Scott Pendlebury is $11 and Dane Swan at $14.

“Our analysts put Mitchell on 24 votes and six votes behind Ablett, so at this stage we’re more than happy for the bets to keep coming,” Brown said.

Mitchell is a clear-cut $1.25 favourite ahead of Luke Hodge at $4.25 to win the most votes of any Hawthorn player.

It’s A Dundeel Backed To Upset Atlantic Jewel In Underwood Stakes

Multiple Group 1 winner It’s A Dundeel is a strong tip to cause an upset in the Underwood Stakes (1800m) at Caulfield tomorrow.

The four-year-old Kiwi opened $13 on Wednesday morning, but weight of money has seen him slashed to $9.

Atlantic Jewel has drifted from $1.45 to $1.60 since this morning, while second elect Puissance De Lune ($6.50 to $8.50) is unwanted.

“It’s A Dundeel has an impressive list of victories to his name and is considered the biggest danger to Atlantic Jewel maintaining her unbeaten record,” said TAB’s Matt Jenkins.

“Punters looking for something to beat the favourite have settled on the Kiwi at attractive odds.

“He did enough first-up in the Memsie Stakes last time out to suggest he will be a danger at Caulfield.”

We have also seen money for Foreteller, who beat Puissance De Lune last start in the Makybe Diva Stakes (1600m), firming from $31 to $21 to win tomorrow.

Money this week has been strong for It’s A Dundeel to win the Cox Plate, bets include: $5,000 @ $10 (today) $4,700 @ $10(Tuesday).

Hawthorn Firm Favourites For AFL Flag

They have finally broken the Kennett Curse and it looks as though they can make amends from last year’s loss, with Hawthorn firming as $1.40 favourites for the flag with online bookmaker Sportsbet Australia following tonight’s win.
Fremantle are next in the market at $3.50 and the Swans are $10 outsiders.

“The Hawks may have done it the hard way tonight but the fact is they have been favourites all year and given they will be hungry for revenge, they deserve to be clear favourites regardless of who wins out of Fremantle or Sydney,” said Sportsbets Shaun Anderson.

While they will be devastated with the loss, there is some good news for Geelong punters, with $175,000 refunded to punters who backed the Cats due to Sportbet’s money back special which sees losing head to head bets refunded for the team that losses by 18 points or less!

Fremantle remain firm $1.30 favourites to join the Hawks in the Grand Final, with the Swans $3.70 outsiders.

Atlantic Jewel 2/1 On To Win Underwood Stakes

Sportingbet Cox Plate favourite Atlantic Jewel is odds-on to stretch her impressive unbeaten career to 10 wins in Saturday’s Hyland Race Colours Underwood Stakes at Caulfield after being allocated gate 7 for the $400,000 Group 1 race at today’s barrier draw.

The Mark Kavanagh trained superstar is a $1.50 clear-cut favourite at Sportingbet.com.au ahead of Melbourne Cup favourite Puissance De Lune at $7.

“Puissance De Lune is a good horse but Atlantic Jewel is freakish and it’s hard to see anything beating her,” Sportingbet Australia CEO Michael Sullivan said.

“I expect Atlantic Jewel will start even shorter on Saturday and if she wins well, she’ll be odds-on for the Sportingbet Cox Plate,” Sullivan said.

In Sportingbet’s head to head market for the Underwood Stakes, Atlantic Jewel is $1.19 versus $4.75 for Puissance De Lune.

Atlantic Jewel has attracted a bet of $60,500 to win the Sportingbet Cox Plate and has shortened from $3.30 into $2.60 since winning the Stocks Stakes at Moonee Valley last Saturday. Puissance De Lune is $7 for the Sportingbet Cox Plate and $5.50 for the Melbourne Cup.

Kiwi galloper It’s A Dundeel is $11 third favourite for Saturday’s Underwood Stakes, ahead of Sea Moon at $13.
