The Gai Waterhouse trained Ecuador continues to be heavily backed at Sportingbet to win Saturday’s Group 1 Epsom Handicap at Randwick.
A $15 chance prior to Wednesday’s barrier draw, punters have since slashed the four-year-old gelding’s odds into just $7 at Sportingbet.
“Punters will be able to fly first class to Ecuador and buy the Galapagos Islands if this plunge comes off,” Sportingbet Australia spokesman Andrew Brown said.
“He’s been the best backed in the race by a long way including a bet of $4k at $11 and a number of other significant four-figure wagers,” Brown said.
Post-barrier draw favourites Boban ($4.60 to $5) and Toydini ($4.60 to $5.50) have both drifted on the back of the support for Ecuador.
Third favourite Streama has been solid at $6.50.
