Luke Nolen has been opened as the $1.45 favourite by online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au to take make it back-to-back Victorian metro jockey premierships.
His biggest opponent will again be Craig Newitt, who’s next at $5.50, while Damien Oliver ($13), Craig Williams ($13) and Dwayne Dunn ($15) are among others in the market.
“Nolen kicked away from Craig Newitt to win last year, and with the backing of the powerful Peter Moody stable, looks to be the man once again in Melbourne,” sportsbet.com.au’s Ben Hawes said.
Peter Moody has been opened at the Black Caviar price of $1.05 to win the trainers’ premiership, with Robert Smerdon next in the market at a distant $12.
